INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1

Print the pattern onto the two matching paper sheets of your choice.

Read the pattern key included in the General Instructions.

 

Step 2

Cut out the 8 identical parts by cutting on the black lines.

STEP 3

On each of the eight parts, fold all green lines as valley folds and all red lines as mountain folds.

Step 4

On each of the eight parts, glue Flap 1 to the other Flap 1, Flap 2 to the other Flap 2, Flap 3 to the other Flap 3, and Flap 4 to the other Flap 4.

Step 5

Connect two parts by gluing any flap on the first part to any flap on the second part.  The A side of the flap on the first part should meet the B side of the flap on the second part.

Step 6

Connect the third and fourth parts to the project. Glue any flap on the third part to any flap on the project.  Glue two flaps on the fourth part to two flaps on the project so that the first of six open squares is formed.  On each pair of flaps that is glued together, the A side on one flap should meet the B side on the other flap.

Step 7

Connect the fifth and sixth parts to the project.  Glue any flap on the fifth part to any flap on the project.  Glue two flaps on the sixth part to two flaps on the project so that the second open square is formed.  On each pair of flaps that is glued together, the A side on one flap should meet the B side on the other flap.

Step 8

Finally, connect the seventh and eighth parts to the project.  Glue two flaps on the seventh part to two flaps on the project.  Glue three flaps on the eighth part to three flaps on the project.  On each pair of flaps that is glued together, the A side on one flap should meet the B side on the other flap.  The completed Quasar should now have six open squares.

This Quasar is a type of stellated snub cube where each point covers 1 and 1/3 triangular faces of the snub cube.
