Icosahedron Star

An icosahedron is a 20 sided shape where each side is a triangle. Here is the star version.

 
 

Project Info

Paper required: One sheet 8 1/2 inch x 11 inch (or A4)

Finished Project size: 3 1/2 inches (9 cm)

Difficulty Level: Beginner

 
 

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1

Print the Icosahedron Star pattern onto the paper of your choice.

Read the pattern key included in the General Instructions.

 

Step 2

Cut out the five pattern pieces by cutting on all black lines.

Step 3

Fold pattern pieces on all red and green lines. Green lines are valley folds and red lines are mountain folds.

STEP 4

On each of the five pattern pieces, glue Flap A to the other Flap A, Flap B to the other Flap B, Flap C to the other Flap C, and Flap D to the other Flap D.

Step 5

Glue Flap E1 on 1st part to Flap E2 on 2nd part. Glue Flap F1 on 1st part to Flap F2 on 2nd part. Glue Flap G1 on 1st part to Flap G2 on 2nd part.

Step 6

Glue Flap E1 on 2nd part to Flap E2 on 3rd part. Flue Flap F1 on 2nd part to Flap F2 on 3rd part. Glue Flap G1 on 2nd part to Flap G2 on 3rd part.

Glue Flap E1 on 3rd part to Flap E2 on 4th part. Flue Flap F1 on 3rd part to Flap F2 on 4th part. Glue Flap G1 on 3rd part to Flap G2 on 4th part.

Step 7

Glue Flap E1 on 4th part to Flap E2 on 5th part. Flue Flap F1 on 4th part to Flap F2 on 5th part. Glue Flap G1 on 4th part to Flap G2 on 5th part.

Now close and complete the star. Glue Flap E1 on 5th part to Flap E2 on 1st part. Flue Flap F1 on 5th part to Flap F2 on 1st part. Glue Flap G1 on 5th part to Flap G2 on 1st part.
