Difficulty Level: beginner

INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1

Print the Heart of Heart pattern onto the two matching paper sheets of your choice.

Read the pattern key included in the General Instructions.

Step 2

Cut out the ten pattern pieces by cutting on the black lines around the edge of each pattern piece including the half hearts. Also cut on the black lines between the two Flap B’s, Flap C’s, Flap E’s, and Flap F’s. If you want the optional message banners (see Photos 15 and 16), then keep Glue Flaps 15, 16, 17, and 18; if you do not want these optional message banners (see Photos 13 and 14), then cut off these flaps. The back side of the paper shows in this project, so I painted it pink after Step 1.

On each Part 1, glue Flap A to the other Flap A, Flap B to the other Flap B, Flap C to the other Flap C, Flap D to the other Flap D, Flap E to the other Flap E, and Flap F to the other Flap F. Note that Flaps B and Flaps E each have two parts and it may be easier to glue one part at a time.

Connect each Part 4 to a Part 5. Glue Flap 3 on Part 4 to Flap 4 on Part 5 and glue Flap 5 on Part 4 to Flap 6 on Part 5. Note that Flaps 3 and 4 each have two parts and Flaps 5 and 6 each have three parts, and it may me easier to glue one at a time.

Two More Examples

This example includes the optional message banners. After writing your message on the banners, glue the banner Flaps 11 to the project Flaps 15, the banner Flaps 12 to the project Flaps 16, the banner Flaps 13 to the project Flaps 17, and the banner Flaps 14 to the project Flaps 18. Note that the banners in the pattern are set up to write on the side of the paper that is on the inside on the rest of the heart.

For shiny paper, like this example, I find that tacky glue works better than normal white glue.
